Fertility Acupuncture in Perth

Whether you are just starting your preconception journey, or are part way through an IVF journey- it’s never too late to bring in acupuncture to help support you during this time. One of the best things that acupuncture has to offer is a moment for your mind to switch off and your body to truly relax.

Fertility Support

Acupuncture can be a helpful, evidence-informed support while trying to conceive, helping to regulate menstrual cycles, reduce stress, improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, and support hormonal balance; when combined with lifestyle measures and conventional fertility care it can enhance wellbeing and may improve treatment outcomes such as ovulation regularity and response to assisted reproductive technologies.

In West Leederville we are conveniently close to several major fertility centres in the Western Suburbs of Perth, including Fertility Specialists WA (FSWA), Genea (Perth clinic), Monash IVF Australia, and Concept Fertility, making it easy to coordinate acupuncture alongside consultations, investigations and treatment cycles.

Is This You?

Trying to conceive can take over all of your thoughts, and it can be a huge challenge to unwind during this time. Acupuncture could support you while you try to fall pregnant if you feel like any of the following applies to you:

  • Women with irregular or absent menstrual cycles seeking improved cycle regulation

  • Individuals with diagnosed ovulatory disorders (e.g., polycystic ovary syndrome - PCOS) aiming to restore or enhance ovulation

  • Couples experiencing unexplained infertility looking for adjunctive therapies to support conception

  • Women undergoing or preparing for assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as IVF, or intrauterine insemination (IUI) who want to improve uterine blood flow, reduce stress and promote implantation success

  • People with diminished ovarian reserve or age-related fertility concerns seeking complementary support for ovarian function and overall reproductive health

  • Individuals with endometriosis, adenomyosis or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) experiencing pain or implantation difficulties who want symptom relief and improved pelvic circulation

  • Those with recurrent early pregnancy loss wanting to address underlying factors such as stress, immune imbalance or poor uterine environment

  • Women with thin endometrium or poor endometrial receptivity aiming to improve lining thickness and blood supply

  • People experiencing high stress, anxiety or sleep disturbances that may be impacting fertility and ovulation

  • Those with thyroid dysfunction or other hormonal imbalances that affect menstrual regularity and fertility, seeking integrative care alongside medical management

  • Individuals seeking preconception optimisation for general health, nutrition, circulation and hormonal balance prior to attempting conception

How I Can Help You

When you come in for your first consulation with me- I will ask you all about your fertility history: time trying to conceive, previous pregnancies/miscarriages, menstrual cycle regularity, known diagnoses (PCOS, endometriosis, tubal issues, diminished ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility). I will take a thorough health history, and also ask about any medications or supplements you are currently using.

I will create an individualised treatment plan depending on where you are at in your journey. Typically we would have weekly sessions for 2 -3 months, but review this ongoing. For IVF/IUI, specific timing protocols are used (pre- and post-transfer sessions) so we adjust sessions accordingly.

Treatment goals shift according to what stage of your cycle you are in and can include:

  • Preconception optimisation: help to regulate cycles, support ovarian function, create a hormonal balance and reduce stress.

  • ART support: sessions scheduled around stimulation, egg retrieval and embryo transfer to optimise uterine receptivity and reduce anxiety.

  • Luteal phase support: focus on supporting implantation and early pregnancy wellbeing.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)- we are looking at creating a smooth flow of blood and energy especially around your pelvic area to support pregnancy. You might hear me talking about how we can nurture your liver, spleen and kidneys mostly, but this is more to do with the TCM concept rather than anything to do with the western view of organ function.

I will make lifestyle recommendations to help nurture your body in preparation for motherhood. I am a massive advocate of you filling your cup, and encourage you to soothe your nervous system as much as you possibly can. Herbal medicine or supplement recommendations are only made where necessary and as long as they don’t compete with ART treatment goals.

All treatments are relaxing and very gentle. My goal is to have you feel totally blissed out by the end of your session. I consider myself a very down to earth practitioner, so you will feel at home and not have to hide any tears if they come.

Faqs

If your questions aren’t answered here, please feel free to reach out to ask.

  • Fertility acupuncture is a specialised application of traditional acupuncture aimed at supporting reproductive health in people trying to conceive. I will insert fine, sterile needles at specific points to influence blood flow, nervous system regulation and hormonal balance.

  • Potential benefits include improved uterine and ovarian blood flow, reduced feelings stress and anxiety, regulation of menstrual cycles, support ovulation quality, and support for implantation. Acupuncture may also reduce side effects of assisted reproductive techniques (ART) such as IVF.

  • Preferably 3 months before you want to start trying BUT that’s often not the case- so just come in whenever you’re ready. The more time we have in the lead up to egg retrieval or transfer if you’re going through IVF, the better. I’m here to support you at any point during your journey.

  • Preferably if you can wear a top and loose fitting pants or a skirt that roll up to your knees. Otherwise we can work around it.

  • The initial consultation and acupuncture treatment is $150, and follow up appointments are $110. If you have private health insurance you may be eligible to claim a portion of that fee back directly with your insurer.
